The Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni, Ghana (CoSAFG), is the official Alumni Network for all recipients of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) in Ghana.
Our Story
To bring together all Commonwealth Scholarship beneficiaries to initiate an Alumni Network in Ghana, a reception for the Ghana CSFP Alumni was held on 12th November 2014 at the British Council in Accra. Scholars and Fellows had the opportunity to suggest the objectives and areas of focus for the Alumni network, and the possible developmental activities the network could undertake. Those interested in being part of the Core Group responsible for taking forward the ideas were invited to attend the Core Group Meetings.
The first Core Group meeting was held on 9 January 2015. This was led by Chiamaka Ndika (the Regional Coordinator, West Africa, CSFP) who briefed the meeting on the CSFP – British Council Terms of Reference for Alumni Associations and guidelines for the way forward. The Core Group meetings were subsequently led by Dr Jacob Agbenorhevi as the Head Coordinator and Miss Nikki Asuming-Bediako as the Deputy. The Core group worked with BC contact persons and drafted the constitution as well as made all necessary arrangements (such as organization registration, securing postal address, bank account, etc.). The Core Group consisted of twenty-one (21) members.
The work of the Core Group was successful and this led to the election of the the Executive Committee members on 10 July 2015. The Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni, Ghana was officially launched at the British Council in Accra on 30th October 2015 as part of the Welcome Home event for returning scholars and fellows.
